Take a dip at Cottesloe Beach

Rockingham to Cottesloe beach 37 km (driving for approximately 45 minutes)

Perth CBD to Cottesloe beach 13 km (driving for approximately 24 minutes)

HIGHLIGHTS:

It’s sacrilegious to visit Perth without strolling down the white sandy shore at Cottesloe beach. For more than a century, locals have spent their weekends soaking in the sun while swimming in the calm, aquamarine sea.

This is an ideal snorkelling spot, since the coral is close to the shore. If you simply want to appreciate the ocean breeze, throw down your towel in the elevated grassy area and enjoy a picnic in the shade.

There’s plenty to do:

  • Swim at the main beach
  • Snorkel at North Cottesloe Beach
  • Take surfing lessons
  • Listen to outdoor music as you relax in the shade
  • Walk or cycle the track from Cottesloe to Hillarys
  • Dine at the fabulous cafes and restaurants
  • Visit the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition (March)

MEALS:

For a wholesome meal that pleases both your taste buds and body, you can’t go wrong with Nature’s Harvest Cafe. Almond oat pancakes, Thai red curry, beetroot rice, organic coffee and salted caramel fudge – this is a sample of what awaits you. The staff are super friendly and helpful too.

Across from the beach you’ll find the Il Lido espresso bar and restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s plenty of choice and the servings are generous. Sit outside if you can, to fully appreciate the magnificent view, especially when the sun is setting.

ACCOMMODATION:

Cottesloe Beach Hotel is the best place to stay if you want instant access to the beach, shops and eateries. All of the rooms have private balconies and most offer ocean views too.
